Saskatoon’s Transformation from stigma ‘Alphabet City’
An article recently published by the Star Phoenix called “Community Shaking ‘Alphabet City’ Stigma with Transformation” is one worth sharing.
The term “Alphabet City” in Saskatoon describes the area that spans from avenue A to avenue Y. This area of the city used to hold a stigma of being the ‘bad’ part of town.
Over the last few years though, increased development activity in this, including renovations and new construction, has started a move to transform this Saskatoon neighbourhood.
Curtis Olson, owner of Shift Development Inc., who has developed some key projects in this area states, “I think there’s a huge amount of optimism right now, and interest in what’s coming next.”
